Pathfinder Runelords

Flood at Turtleback

The group is preparing to leave town to pay a visit to Skull’s Crossing, the dam which, until now, has kept the river in check, allowing Turtleback Ferry a rather peaceful existence. Right as they are about to set off, a flash flood hits, bringing with it a bad tempered python that is attempting to devour schoolchildren out of am emergency raft, and a confused lake monster. The python is quickly dispatched, saving the children and earning the gratitude of the local families. The lake monster, on the other hand is almost more than our intrepid heroes can handle. The ancient beast has laid in wait under the lake for centuries, and the damage at the dam caused it to get flushed out with the flood. It seems to ignore the group for a few rounds, while the church takes its full wrath. Eventually, they get the creature’s attention buy clambering over it, slashing and smashing as they go. They are successful in chasing the beast away from town, but just barely. The church holding the sick and elderly has taken massive damage, but amazingly, no one was hurt inside.

Finishing the Fort

The group make their way to the uppermost reaches of the fort, past the bell room and into the watchtower. The room is decorated lavishly with silk drapes and stuffed pillows. A canopy bed rests in one corner, and a dresser in another. As the group enters the room, a sultry feminine voice greets them. “Hello, welcome to my humble adobe. You have all grown most powerful, your talents would be put to better use working for us. Mokmorian would have great use for you all.”

After a quick deliberation, the group decides against joining Mokmorian and attacks Lucretia. Gorge leads the charge, drawing his great sword which bursts into flames. Unfazed, he strikes Lucretia with a vicious blow, his weapon transforming for a split second into spewing magma before his very eyes. The fiery strike ignites the fine livery in the room, and mortally wounds Lucretia. “I see your stamina has improved since the last time we danced.” she says to him, before revealing her true form of a Lamia Matriarch, her fine dress tearing apart as a huge serpent tail emerges from under her skirt.

James is climbing back up the outside of the tower after leading out. Griffin and Zalgo are running through the fort to the top room. As James is nearing the window, he sees Lucretia attempt to fly away. Quickly, James loops the rope around her, jumping through the loop to create a knot, and splits her open from navel to throat.

The group makes one last sweep of the fort, and convinced that the ogre threat has been dealt with, returns to Turtleback Ferry, where is has been raining profusely for two days now. The mayor greets the group, and thanks them for helping the town in its time off need. The mayor tells the party that since the Order of the Black Arrows has been decimated, with only two living members, that the fort fell under the jurisdiction of Turtleback Ferry. And since the town can ill afford to repair and maintain an unmanned fort, the mayor offers the fort to the group as payment for their services to the town.

Four days later, the rain has not stopped, but seems to have intensified. The mayor approaches the group and asks them to pay a visit to Skull’s Crossing, the dam located a mile upriver, to see if the floodgates are operating.

2-4-11 Fort Rannick

The adventures continue to fight their way through Fort Rannick. The majority of ogres were drawn out of the fort by Ava posing as a sexy ogre and luring them into the open, where they were ambushed. The ogres that remained in the wooden barracks, which turned out bad for them. Gorge blocked the door while Ava set fire to the building, delighting in the tormented screams of the evil ogres.

Zaldo and Griffin climbed the gate tower to keep a look out for trouble. They stayed there for almost the entire night. They did hear and sort of saw a dragon land somewhat close to the fort, but it did not engage anyone, content to keep its distance and watch the party destroy the ogres.

Gorge, Ava Edgecaster, Dr. Felric Elgood, and James Bishop made there way into the fort’s main building, set into the cliff face. There they cleared the first floor of the ogre menace, including a rare ogre sorcerer and an ogre with a set of iron jaws. As they continued to the second floor, they opened the doors to the chapel, which was covered in human remains. The great progenitor of that ogre clan face them in terrible combat, gravely wounding Gorge, before falling to the repeated attacks of Ava and James. The ogre dropped a +1 Human Bane Ogre Hook, and Boots of the Mire.

In the next room, the Half-orc ranger Angel Ollihandro broke free of his bonds and sley his captor. He entered the chapel just in time to see James decapitate the monster with a deft slice of his blades.

Angel told the party of Jakandros’ fate, and how the Forest nymph he loved tried to rescue him, but was ravaged and torn apart but the animalistic ogres.

Meanwhile, while Zaldo and Griffin were thanking their deities that the dragon left them alone, they discovered a roguish figure making her way up their ladder. She introduced herself as Alba, and she has been watching the happenings at Fort Rannick for some time now, biding her time to releave the place of its valuables. When she sees the party ransacking the place, Alba decides that now is a good a time as any to make her move.

As she tops the ladder, she takes Zaldo and Griffin off guard, intimidating Griffin into subserviance. Zaldo is impassive, and gives her no trouble. After making brief acquaintances, Alba starts into the fort, intent on looting whatever she can. She did neglect to mention the fact to the pair on the tower that she may have crossed a Razorbat nest, leading the nasty creatures right into Zaldo and Griffin as the bats follow her scent trail.

They prove to be no match for Griffins superior harpoon skills and Zaldo’s furious fists, and are quickly dispatched.

Alba, aware that the Razorbats attacked the tower, hurries her way to the fort’s secret arms stash. Inside, she finds several dozen swords and misc armor, all mundane, except for a set of +2 shocking burst arrows. She also spotted a Shocker Lizard, and was able to tame it into becoming her pet. Alba named the lizard Barnebas.

Welcome to your Adventure Log!
A blog for your campaign

Every campaign gets an Adventure Log, a blog for your adventures!

While the wiki is great for organizing your campaign world, it’s not the best way to chronicle your adventures. For that purpose, you need a blog!

The Adventure Log will allow you to chronologically order the happenings of your campaign. It serves as the record of what has passed. After each gaming session, come to the Adventure Log and write up what happened. In time, it will grow into a great story!

Best of all, each Adventure Log post is also a wiki page! You can link back and forth with your wiki, characters, and so forth as you wish.

One final tip: Before you jump in and try to write up the entire history for your campaign, take a deep breath. Rather than spending days writing and getting exhausted, I would suggest writing a quick “Story So Far” with only a summary. Then, get back to gaming! Grow your Adventure Log over time, rather than all at once.
